Almost any reasonably healthy woman who wishes to undergo breast enlargement in New Jersey is a good candidate. However, this said, the best candidates are those who are non smokers and at or near the ideal weight for their body size and sufficient breast skin to cover the implant and to provide support for the implant.

There are very few risks with breast implants, they have been part of the cosmetic surgery scene for many years and the products are now considered to be very safe. Of course, as with any surgical procedure there is a slight risk of infection, bruising, a loss of sensation in the breast and hardening of the breast as a result of scar tissue forming around the actual implant. It may be harder for the medical professionals to detect a breast problem but these are things that will be explained in detail when you consult with the cosmetic surgeon.

There are a number of factors that have an effect on the recovery time for any given patient but in general, two days of rest will get the person back up and in the office. For another two or three week period the patient should avoid any heavy lifting or exercise as the incision may reopen.

Type of implants:

There are two basic types of breast implants, those that use a saline filled silicone case and those that are silicone gel. For many years the only implants available in the US were saline filled but within the last year or so silicone gel implants have been approved by the FDA and are commonly available.

Implants can have different surface textures, from smooth to rough. There are some surgeons who feel an implant with a slightly rough surface reduces the possibility of scar tissue forming around it but conversely, the implant is more difficult to remove if and when needed. Many implants are round but there are also tear shaped implants which tend to result in a more natural look. The only problem that has been identified with tear shaped implants is the possibility of malrotation which deforms the shape.

Other considerations:

In many cases breast enlargement in New Jersey must be repeated, this is especially true with saline filled implants as there is a possibility of them leaking. As the breast will not grow or recede as the body does, any weight gain or loss can affect the appearance of the woman and as the patient ages the breast does not sag as one would expect.
