Changes in brain chemistry, hormones, repeated pattern of negative thinking and early childhood trauma can play a role in depression. People who have a family history of depression are also more likely to develop it.

When to Seek Help

If depression symptoms are starting to interfere with your teen’s life, then it is time for them to get help. You can take your child to the pediatrician. You will also need to take them to a mental health counselor.
